Following a powerful speech, Steph Curry has a moment with Steve Kerr. and Coach Kerr’s impassioned remark following the Uvalde shooting made Steph proud.
On Tuesday night, there was a playoff basketball game in Dallas, but hearts and minds were elsewhere. During his pregame news conference, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr delivered a heartfelt message in response to the sad shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas earlier in the day.
“14 children have been slain 400 kilometres away since we left shoot-around. A teacher, too “Kerr explained. “When are we going to make a decision? I’m exhausted. I’m sick of coming up here and delivering condolences to the bereaved family. I’m sick of the – I’m sorry, I’m sick of the silence. Enough!” Kerr continued his message by criticizing US lawmakers for their lack of action.
Kerr said, “There’s a reason they won’t vote on it.” “To maintain power. So, Mitch McConnell, and all of you senators who refuse to do anything about violence, school shootings, and grocery massacres, I ask you. Will you put your personal thirst for power ahead of the lives of our children, the elderly, and churchgoers, I ask? Because that’s how it appears. Every week, we do this.”
Following the game, Steve Kerr was asked about Steph Curry, who urged fans to pay attention to Kerr’s pregame address with the same intensity they would Game 4. Steph went up to his coach to express his gratitude after sending out a Tweet on Kerr’s pregame greeting.
“He tried to give me a friendly nod and a firm handshake. It was nonverbal, but I understood what he was saying “Kerr spoke about the pregame moment he had with Steph. When asked about the embrace, Steph replied, “His leadership is amazing… Coach’s appearance here and what he said – every word he spoke was strong and significant. I welcome the challenge of using my voice and platform to try to effect change. You could tell how much it meant to him to stand in front of you and speak into this microphone. As a result, I value his leadership in this area.”
What happened earlier in the day left both Steph Curry and Steve Kerr upset, but the superstar point guard is proud of his head coach for utilizing his voice and position to inspire change.
