The New York Rangers won the second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes 6-2 in Game 7, and will now meet the two-time defending Stanley Cup winners Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference final. The Rangers will be playing in their first Stanley Cup semifinals since 2015, when they met the Lightning.
Igor Shesterkin made 36 stops in the net for the Rangers, who also got goals from defenseman Adam Fox, center Ryan Strome, center Filip Chytil, and winger Andrew Copp.
The Eastern Conference Finals get underway at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. During the regular season, the Rangers won all three games against the Lightning, with Shesterkin in net each time.
